Snow in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge
Last night as I drove a friend home who needed a designated driver for New Years Eve it started to snow. It was really falling by the time I got home. When I woke up this morning it was quickly melting away. I decided to make a drive up to the local Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in hopes of getting some Bison in the snow.
Well I didn’t get to see one bison but I got to photograph some long horned steer. Such beautiful animals and calm just eating the grass. What a magical place to be in the snow. The weather cleared up and I got such pretty blue skies in my photos too which I love. I would have taken so many more photos if I had run into the Bison. They have a large area to roam and I wasn’t up for a super long drive to find them. I also forgot to grab my extra battery and the one I had was flashing the entire time. hahahha. Mt Scott was closed off I guess for fear of ice but the roads were all clear. The snow had almost melted by the time we left to head on home.
I hope you enjoy looking at these as much as I enjoyed getting to take them.
Has your home area gotten any snow yet this winter? I will miss sledding for sure since there do not seem to be many hills around here to sled on legally. This is a beautiful location though so it will make up for it in the end.
